Nostalgia de la Luz: a documentary from Patricio Guzman

Hi! I'm going to write about my favourite documentary from the chilean director "Pato" Guzman called "Nostalgia for the Light". It's not easy to explain what it's about, because the director made a mix of interstellar philosophy and the remains of memory about the dictatorship and the women who looks for their missing-executed family in the dessert, making the relation of the astronomers who search for the light in the space and those desert women who search for their own light in the ground.

I saw the film in the 2010's FIDOCS in the "Cineteca de Chile", and I was in shock. In shock because the beatiful and poetical language of the documentary speaking of a political and human issue. The point of view it´s critical but it's not direct, you just know because the way of Patricio Guzman to tell his own story (and if you investigate you'll find the support of Guzman to Salvador Allende).

Patricio Guzman started back in the 60's filming his own time. He used a completely different cinematography language, what is normal if you consider the urgency to register everything at the time, not like now (everyone has acces to a camcorder or a cellphone), so it's nice to see the evolution of the director, to a more poetical language.
Anyway, the film really touch me the first time I saw it. It made me change the way to see documentary films and, above all, to appreciate more my living people (and made stronger my believings)
